Update from me! I know you care
this is jess hinds-bond, btw. you'd probably figure that out for yourself though. since grant took the time to post a real update, i think i will do so as well.
i turned in my (very early) notice at my current job as an admin assistant at a market research firm. i've been here since shortly after graduating in 2004 and i'm definitely ready to move on, which for me means going back to school. i'm overjoyed :-)
i gave my official notice early since they knew from date of hire that i'd be pursuing theatre or school at some point in time, and they also know that i've been accepted to school. plus i'm no good at keeping secrets and it's pretty obvious how excited i am about the changes coming up. i'm going to work here up until the start of school and they're hiring someone else right now for me to train.
i start work on my masters of theatre august 27th at villanova university. i've been awarded an assistantship in costumes which will pay for at least the first year of the program (two years total) - i have to maintain my grades and then reapply at the end of that year. this award means that i will not have to work a separate part time job while in school, so i'm hugely thankful for it. the 07-08 season will be:
beyond therapy - christopher durang
mother courage and her children - bertolt brecht
baby - david shire / richard maltby (spring musical)
the illusion - pierre corneille / tony kushner
classes for my first semester will be script analysis, dramaturgy classic traditions (modern dramaturgy is in the spring), and principles of acting. sara beth, i am more than a little nervous about this acting class. i'm trying to remind myself that i am going back to school for more learning, and that's definitely a part of theatre that i need to know more about.
i guess i'm going to have to start following college basketball!
oh. it took me about a dozen different tries in order to find my old blogger name for this board so that i could post, which shows how long it's been since i last logged on. i'm glad this is accessible by email now.
in my current freetime, i'm reading scripts for philadelphia young playwrights again this year. also i've been doing a lot of sewing and needlework and i started a sewing blog on here separate from my personal livejournal. and i'm slowly in the process of building an etsy store, since i'm fast becoming overrun by fabric and it might help with a little extra spending money in school, or at least an outlet for when i want to create something of my own rather than another costume. the new blog is here... purple hippo creations
