Crack and Dog meat

(So yeah, I am including random pictures that don't have anyone in them).

To answer comments from my earlier post (both on this blog and my other one). Yes, it is very hard to get crack here. We have made friends with the Pespsi Company sales rep here and he informed us that only certain cities have access to it. And I don't know if you can tell, but that was crack citrus, not regular crack. What's the difference you ask? Just a slight difference in taste (at room temp at least since we don't have a fridge).
For those that want to send care packages, you can get my address from J. Eastman or email me. Depending on how you send it, packages can take two weeks (normal air mail) or two months (ground). Just make sure you mark it "gift".
In other news, I plan on going to eat Dog at some point (pictures to follow of course). The place we know is called "Dog meat House" and is open 24 hours a day (in a country where everything closes at 8, thats a miracle). So our friends want to go at like 3 in the morning. I wish I was making this stuff up.

Schadenfreude

schadenfreude \SHAHD-n-froy-duh\, noun:
A malicious satisfaction in the misfortunes of others.

Alabama booster sentenced to six months

MEMPHIS, Tenn. --A former Alabama football booster convicted of bribing a high school coach to get a top recruit to sign with the Crimson Tide was sentenced Monday to six months in prison.

Logan Young, 64, also was sentenced to six months home confinement after his release from prison and then two years' supervised release

...

Young said he was not upset that his chief accuser, former high school coach Lynn Lang, avoided jail time after pleading guilty to taking part in a racketeering conspiracy.

"I don't have a problem with that," Young said as he left the federal courthouse. "I'm happy with what I got."

Young said he believes his lawyers have a good chance of overturning his conviction at the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Lang testified against Young, saying he paid $150,000 to get defensive lineman Albert Means to sign with Alabama five years ago.
He was convicted under federal law of money laundering and racketeering conspiracy. The underlying offense, however, was a violation of state law, bribing a public servant.

...

Lang testified at Young's trial that other universities, including Georgia, Kentucky, Arkansas, Memphis, Mississippi, Michigan State and Tennessee, offered him money or jobs to get Means.

No charges were filed against anyone with those schools. Three former coaches, Rip Scherer of Memphis, Jim Donnan of Georgia and Ivy Williams, an Alabama assistant, testified Lang was lying.

Means' recruitment became part of an NCAA investigation that led to sanctions against Alabama in 2002, costing the Crimson Tide scholarships and bowl appearances.

Lang, the former head coach at Trezevant High in Memphis, lost his job because of the recruiting scandal and now lives in Michigan.

He testified against Young while waiting to be sentenced on a guilty plea to crossing state lines as part of a racketeering conspiracy. Prosecutors supported Lang's request to avoid prison and he was sentenced to two years probation and 500 hours of community service.

Means transferred to Memphis after one season at Alabama and finished his college eligibility last season.

My thoughts:

1) Always good to see someone associated with the University of Alabama go down
2) See any schools in particular that aren't named by Lang as other schools that tried to bribe him?
3) After all of the cheating, Means only played one season at Alabama. My evil laugh should be inserted here.
4) This is a national embarrassment for Alabama. I chose the Boston Globe link to indicate how widespread the reporting of this event has been. On the first page of 10 results that Yahoo News has under "Logan Young Sentenced" as search parameters, I had my choice of the Boston Globe, FoxSports, USA Today, AP via Yahoo news, or any number of local TN TV links.
