Update on the Grille.
The O-A News has a story about the Grille's closing, here.
What I find unusual is that the Grille closed despite the outpouring of support; it's as if the owners didn't want to keep the Grille right where it was.

The Flame Has Died
Just a little update to everyone. During parts of last week and this past week, the Grille was stripped of everything (that I could tell) that was in it. From what I saw tonight, the windows are now covered with brown paper (the kind you'd expect a grocery bag to be made of). So, it looks like the story that someone (my apologies that I can't remember) relayed on here earlier has come to pass...The Grille's flame has finally burned out.
We Were the Culprits.
I haven't been posting too much lately, as I've been trying to figure out how precisely I'm going to balance a long-term assignment at the temp agency, two upcoming projects for grad school, and taking care of my mom up here in Pittsburgh. (See my blog for details.)
With luck, I'll get into a new routine next week.
But, April Fools reminded me of something, and I figured I'd post this on April 2nd to make absolutely clear my sincerity.
Y'all remember the April Fools gag of the crime scene at Broun's front desk, in (I believe) 2001?
Jason and I did that.
UPDATE: Nicole tells me that the stunt was apparently pulled off before she came to Auburn, so that would be 2000.

Just to let you know the latest thats going on in my life:
1. I quit my job
2. Leaving tomorrow for Tibet tobecome a Buddist monk
3. Until the approval for the sex change operation goes through (which should be two years)
4. And my parents are moving to Tennessee.

U2 can be a lawyer
Just heard something a bit strange. Now, I take this with a grain of salt given that it is April Fool's Day, but the radio station I normally listen to during work just made a rather strange statement. After a song, the DJ usually spits out some random information regarding the band or concert dates. So, today, after hearing "Mysterious Ways" the dj mentions that Bono will be giving a commencement speech at a university and I want to say that it's a university in the Philidelphia area. Stranger still was the statement that Bono will be recieving an honorary Doctorate in Law. Now, I took this mearly for a gag at first, but after careful consideration, and thinking back throughout the morning, this station hasn't played ANY April Fool's gag on anybody, and there was no special emphasis put on this news bit. It was just thrown in there as a footnote like everything else. So, here's my question. Was this just a gag? If it was, I congratulate the dj on delievering it so smoothly and discretely that it was mistaken for real news. If it's not a gag though, would somebody please explain how this is happening? Bubba, i'm looking at you for this one.
No other real news. Just glad that the weekend is here and can't wait for the airshow. Whee!!

Auburn Baseball Update
The 13th-ranked Auburn baseball team fell to Georgia Tech at Russ Chandler Stadium Tuesday, 20-5, as the Yellow Jackets scored seven runs in the first and eighth innings en route to the victory. Georgia Tech improved to 16-11, while the Tigers fell to 20-7. Full Story
This finishes a 2-2 week for Auburn, after taking 2 of 3 from Tennessee over the weekend, and getting OWNED by Georgia Tech yesterday. With any luck, Auburn will stop channeling the Rangers' pitching staff by this weekend. I'm guessing we won't be ranked 13th anymore by this weekend.

Admin Absence
Seeing as its an incredibly slow week for Auburn news, I thought I'd slip this in. I'll be heading down to Fort Walton Beach, Florida tomorrow with SB. I don't expect to spend much time online while I am down there, so any admin help or invites that need to be sent (you ARE spreading the word, aren't you?) should be referred to Bubba. I'll be back on Sunday.
Regarding Sunday, I have an open invite for any baseball fans in the Montgomery area. 7PM on ESPN2 Sunday night...it's Opening Day! Red Sox vs. Orioles. Anybody who is in the area and is interested is more than welcome to drop by my house to watch with us (myself, SB, and my parents).

UAT Shows Their True Colors Again
Here's an article about how our favorite redneck rivals stripped a prominent former player's name from a prestigious award for accepting the Mississippi State football coaching job after being passed over for the same position at Alabama. Alabama takes Croom's name off spring award

Fun Websites
Hey y'all. Some good websites that I find amusing include Daryl Cagles's Professional Cartoonists Index, which includes a lot of good political cartoons and Rate My Professor, which is pretty self explanatory. You can look up old professors (if you've graduated) or look up future ones (if you're still currently at AU). Later, and War Eagle!
Reading Comics Before Stock Prices Increases Life Expectancy.
I would like to share this non-political, very amusing comic from Pearls Before Swine. It's the ultimate universal translator. Heehee.
PBS was created by Steven Pastis... he can't draw worth a donkey's arse, and admits it... but the satire is second to none.
There are a few ways to stay amused in the post Calvin & Hobbes era. Anyone have any others?
All times Central. War Damn Eagle.
