News from the Galaxy Far, Far Away.

A brief summary of news and tidbits concerning Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

For starters, the second and final trailer for Episode III will debut in various venues this week, first tonight on Fox during The O.C. (ugh), then later tonight at StarWars.com for members of the "Hyperspace" subscription service, then attached to the movie Robots which premieres tomorrow.

Non-subscribers will be able to see the trailer at StarWars.com starting Monday, March 14.

Second, Tuesday saw the release of the poster for Episode III:

Another masterpiece of Drew Struzan, the poster fits well with the two previous prequel posters and the posters for the Special Edition trilogy:

[ Episode I Release Poster ]   [ Episode II Release Poster ]  [ Episode III Release Poster ]

[ Episode IV SE Release Poster ]  [ Episode V SE Release Poster ]  [ Episode VI SE Release Poster ]

I think it'll look nice in my apartment's living room, along side the other five. A large image is available at TheForce.net. And, of course, the poster is available at StarWarsShop.com.

Finally, it appears that the cast list on the official site has been recently updated. The coolest addition?

Wayne Pygram as Governor Tarkin.

For those who may not remember, Tarkin was the guy who ordered the destruction of Princess Leia's homeworld of Alderaan and planned her execution. For the prequels, Lucas has to walk a thin line between having too few connections to the original trilogy and too many: some weren't pleased that Anakin built C-3P0 and that the Death Star plans appeared in Attack of the Clones, others would like to see a young Han Solo, and I'm convinced there are some who will never be happy.

For Episode III, we will apparently see Chewbacca, Mon Mothma, and now Tarkin. It's yet to be seen whether these characters' inclusion will work on screen, but one thing is clear:

For Tarkin, it is perfect casting.

I didn't recognize the name at first, but someone at the boards at TheForce.net connected the dots: Wayne Pygram played the menacing, sadistic Scorpius in Farscape.

Like I said, perfect casting.

(And I apologize if this entry was a little image-heavy for everyone's tastes; the various news items seemed to merit it.)
