There are times when I'm really glad I read the Corner, a popular blog at National Review Online. A post this afternoon lead me to find this AP story with the following headline:

Bush receives Speedo, surfboard from champs
President honors several NCAA champions at White House

So, I thought to myself, a NCAA championship team gave Bush a Speedo, huh? That probably means that it was a swim team, so that probably means...

Oh no.

The AU Athletics official site confirms it:

"Auburn is here as three-peat champions," President Bush said of the Tigers. "Congratulations. We are glad you are here. Thank you for the Speedo. However I am not going to wear it, at least not in public."

The mind reels.

Between natural disasters, I wanted to add something pleasant. Here is a Brounie picture from the wedding of she who shall now be known as Jessica Hinds-Bond. This picture is from just outside the church in Maggie Valley, NC, where Jessica Hinds and Daniel Bond were married on June 25, 2005. Left to right in the picture above, you see former Brounies Christina Coleman, Jessica Hinds-Bond, Colby Harpool, and some guy.
