Gmail Accounts for Broun Bloggers!

If you haven't heard, Google has recently been beta-testing its email service. Between the perks of its service -- including ONE THOUSAND MEGABYTES OF STORAGE -- and the slow trickle of invitations to beta-test, Gmail accounts have been very much the "hot item" to get online.

It's been so bad that Google is now banning people from selling accounts to others. (Though it appears that the aura of exclusivity is beginning to wane.)

In response to Google's move, Yahoo and Hotmail have expanded their free quotas to 100 and 250 MB, respectively. But still...

1,000 MB.

(Note that the quota is not quite a full gigabyte. A gigabyte is, technically speaking, 1,028 MB -- or 210 MB. Still, a thousand Megs is 8.4 billion ones and zeroes. Not bad at all.)

Before I knew Gmail was hip, I noticed it was offered once at Blogger's "dashboard," a day before the interface was revamped. Well, it's back. All you Broun Bloggers, log in and join on up!

A New Job

As one of the most recent graduates, I am excited to say I have a gotten a job! I'll be teaching at Macon County Elementary School in Oglethorpe, Georgia. It's the only school in the county, so there are a few more than 1000 students. I will have one of the nine fourth grades. School starts on July 30 there (poor kids) so I'll begin July 26. The next few weeks will be spent trying to find a place to live, since the town where the school is has absolutely nothing! So far I'm looking at Perry, Georgia, which is about halfway between Macon and Oglethorpe. If anyone knows the area or has any suggestions, feel free to let me know!

FTI, here's my random fact that shows how different Georgia schools are from Alabama schools. This school, which is only a county school, has enough wireless laptops for the entire fourth grade!

Does whatever a spider can...

I'm sure I don't need to tell anybody the level of geekness I obtain whenever comic book movies come about. Today has been no exception as I'll be seeing the midnight showing of Spiderman 2 tonight in Tallahassee. Needless to say I'm excited, but that only really begins to describe it. I saw the first movie 4 times on the big screen and if htis movie is half as good as the first I look to at least match that record.

However, my geekdom does have its limits. While i will wait in line for about an hour for this movie, i will not be in costume. I plan to laugh at people who show up in web covered tights....*shudders*...sorry for the bad mental image.

Anyway...tonight is a good night. Life is good and all is right in the world.
