What's In Your Holiday Plans?

Merry Christmas to my fellow Brounies. May you and yours be healthy, your airport delays minimal, and your enemies despairing at this joyous time of year.

For those who will be in the general area (say, no more than 3 hours away by car), I am hoping to have a Capital One Bowl gathering on Jan 2 (a holiday for many, in spite of it being a Monday) at the house in Montgomery. I am trying to get the high definition enjoyment in before I move out in Feb, and really, how better to do that than to enjoy Auburn's bowl game, followed by 2 BCS Bowl games in beautiful HD? I have already mentioned the idea to several people, and do not have any certain commitments yet. This is obviously understandable during the hectic holiday season, but I wanted to get the invitation spread as much as possible for anyone who might be interested. The Auburn game is scheduled to start at noon central time on Monday, Jan 2, and I just might feel motivated to whip up some fudge if enough people are interested in attending.

Continuing Personal Updates

Well, when I read Jason's update I realized it had been awhile since I updated. I moved up to Macon a couple of months ago and am now living on Lake Tobesofkee. I am teaching at a new school this year and it is much better. It's still a Title One school, which means that 98% of our kids are eating free or reduced lunch. (We also feed them breakfast, as those are the only meals they eat, in general.) I'm teaching fifth grade, which is a rough age, as it's where all the hormones hit and the smart mouths continue. Plus most of my kids have raised themselves, so it's tough trying to get them to see that I am the adult, not them. But some days I feel like I'm actually making a difference, and my principal is totally supportive, so all in all it's a much better situation. I'm finally getting settled into a new town and making new friends - and actually enjoying being single for once. Other than that, the only major change in my life is that I have recently become an aunt! My niece, Madison, was born on October 18. I'm really looking forward to spending time with her over the Christmas holidays. If you're ever in the Middle Georgia area, look me up!
